A message from Julie:

Dear Family and Friends,

I wanted to let you know that my good pal and yours, Ellie Rosenfield, has recently been diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma. Of course we are totally pissed off. The plan is to kick this cancer to the curb. On the way there, however, Ellie is going to have to fight a medical battle that will include chemo and radiation treatments--and their side effects, bouts of exhaustion and feeling ill, and facing and living with the unknown. Ellie's spirits are good and we are very impressed with the medical team.

I know you will join me in adding her to your prayers and sending good healing thoughts her way. Thanks.
Julie

Ellie Rosenfield is one of the most precious to a large circle of family and friends. As her baby sister for over 52 of her 55 years of life, I am a direct beneficiary of her generous giving ways. We love you and will be there for you Ellie -- helping you every step of the way.

By the way, your blog is awesome it is great to see your beautiful face. I miss you a ton and am cleaning frantically so that when you and Julie are here for Emily's bat Mitzvah on May 17th, neither of you will have to lift a finger!!!

Good luck with your first round of chemo. I will be sending my healing thoughts your way.

Love,

Carol

Dear Ellie
As your news reached me I could not help but be stuck by your grace and tenacity..two of many fabulous characteristics that accompany you always and will continue on this leg of your journey. I am confident also you will continue to teach many, including myself life lessons along the way. I have no doubt you will kick this to the curb and likely inspire many along the way. The Camerlengo's are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers!

Ellie,

Two words for you: Strength and Faith. These are the qualities that you possess. Strength will get you through this and I have no doubt that this is what you're drawing on. Faith - never forget your faith because that above all else is the reason for our existence. No doubt both combined together will get you through this. You have a wonderful circle of family and friends as your support network.

Jeff sent me your email and blog site with the information about your recent diagnosis. I'm so glad he did. You and I have much in common as you begin the process of dealing with this disease. You know I've had lymphoma for the past 12 years - large B-cell, diffuse NHL(non-hodgkin's lymphoma). I happen to have indolent/chronic lymphoma, and I was so glad to read that your type is acute and curable. That is a blessing we'll cherish forever! Your message reflected such a positive outlook - I can tell you from experience that attitude and outlook matter - a lot! This challenge you're facing will take much resolve on your part, but there's no doubt you are up to that task. Ginny and I will be thinking of you often - you're a very special person to so many people.

With much love,

Preston
